THESE MEN THEY
CALL KNIGHTS

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney.
The officers of the new Catholic Men's Organization chose the name Knights of Columbus to honor Christopher Columbus, the Catholic discoverer of America.
The word "Knights" is also significant as we are ever mindful of the Knightly qualities of spirituality and service to our church that is embodied in the Knights of Columbus.

What are the membership requirements?

Membership requirments are that a member be a
 Practical Catholic gentleman,
who is 18 years of age or older.

What is a Practical Catholic?

A Practical Catholic is one who is in
union with the Holy See and practices
the precepts of the Catholic Church
.

What are the Degrees of the Order?

There are four degrees within the
Knights of Columbus. Each Degree
ceremony imparts a lesson on the
order's core virtues of
Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

We are the Knights of Columbus.

We believe that man is defined by his actions
as a follower of God and as a leader in his
community. We believe that man is more
than a simple man, when he bears the
title "Knight".

We are an organization of dedicated men, 1.7 million strong, and growing. An organization that, since 1882 has embodied the selflessness of man as it has helped overcome poverty, ignorance and apathy. Our council here at Holy Family Parish has over 150 members. We are involved in many activities and programs. Some of which are: Spaghetti Suppers, Free Throw contest for Middle School students, TYM Support, Upkeep of Memorial Garden, Support for the L.A.M.B Program, Support of a Seminarian and Memorial Masses for our departed Brother Knights. As you can readily see, we practice what we preach. Our watchwords are Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. We are Catholics and we are not ashamed to give witness to that. We actively support our Bishop and Priest and strive to be an active part of our church community.

Knights of Columbus
Council 7547
The Knights of Columbus is an organization fortified by it's past and driven by it's goals for the future. It is through our five areas of service that we truly make a difference.

Faith
Service
Community
Youth
Fellowship

As a Knight you can make a difference - through service to our Pope, our Bishops, our Priests and to the church and community, and above all, through your fellowship as a Brother Knight.
